The 2017 Unwritten is a consummate example of a young, fresh Cabernet Sauvignon, that is accessible and enjoyable now but has the density and complexity to evolve into a truly epic wine.The nose is brimming with earthy and warm floral notes of clove, sandalwood, and baking spice. This vintage is not shy; it covers your palate with red and black fruits and is replete with succulent flavors of black cherry, creme de cassis and plum compote. Gorgeous, taut tannins give the wine definition and weight, elongating its already lengthy finish.

Dark cherry, plumb, blackberry, sweet tobacco, smoke, leather, and some earthy tones all mixed together with the perfect balance of acid and tannin. This is an amazing wine that I would happily drink every day or for a special occasion. It will easily age for another 10 years and still be amazing.

Sometimes a Cabernet comes along that reminds you what California wine can still do. Unwritten is a boutique winemaker whose goal is to bring the focus of their wines back to the soil. This vintage is solely produced using fruit from St. Helena's Lewelling Vineyard and does an amazing job in showcasing the beautiful structure that this vineyard can develop. Subtle and elegant in tribute to the classics of California wine.
