Curious about each bottle? Additional Winemaker notes:
2018 Tinto Rey Verdejo : Verdejo, the iconic Spanish white grape, thrives in our Dunnigan Hills terroir. The varietal is known for being bright and lively and the 2018 Tinto Rey is all that and more. The aromatics are a burst of fresh fruit; flavors of green apple, lime zest and lemon are framed with a creaminess from barrel aging. The finish is crisp and refreshing with a little pop of minerality.
2019 Chasing Venus Sauvignon Blanc : Bright, crisp, lively and refreshing; there is no doubt that this is a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Explosive aromas of tropical fruit, lychee and pineapple lead to big flavors of grapefruit, mango, papaya, gooseberry and lime.
2018 The Arsonist Chardonnay : Matchbooks 2018 The Arsonist Chardonnay is a luscious blend of the best barrel lots of estate-grown fruit. A beautiful golden straw color opens to aromas of toasty oak, crme brle, brown sugar and mango. Dense flavors of pineapple, caramel apples and baking spices are layered over creamy buttery notes and a touch of vanilla. This is a full-bodied Chardonnay loaded with opulent flavors that are well-integrated and balanced.
2018 Matchbook Petite Sirah : Petite Sirah grown in the Dunnigan Hills produces the full-bodied, well-structured wine expected from this distinct varietal. Lots of fresh cracked-pepper spice and juicy red fruit complement the earthy fig, plum and hint of leather. The wine is broad on the palate with mouth filling flavors of dark chocolate and black licorice.
2017 Mossback Merlot : Classic aromas and flavors of cigar box, cedar and oak mingle seamlessly with cherry, cranberry and touch of olive tapenade. This 2017 Merlot has a refined lightness with a stylish finish of toasty red berries.
2016 Tinto Rey Super Tinto Red Blend : The heritage of the three Tempranillo clones in our Matchbook vineyards is pure Spanish: Ribera del Duero, Rioja and Tinta de Toro. Those old-world vines grown in the Dunnigan Hills accentuate the best of both worlds. The rich aromatics are an enticing mix of barrel spice, vanilla and leather. Juicy flavors of plum and dark fruit are layered over earthy tobacco and dark chocolate notes that evolve and deepen with time in the glass. The firm tannins are balanced by luxurious, lingering flavors.
